This Week’s Lecture Series at the University Business Academy dedicated to: ECONOMIC CRIME

On 29 January 2016, Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, University Business Academy, hosted yet another in a series of interesting lectures. This week, the topic was economic crime and the guest speakers were from the Law Faculty of the University of Timisoara, Faculty of Law of the University of Pecs and the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies of the University of Belgrade.

Before the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Marijana Carić, Council President of the University Business Academy, received the representatives from the Law Faculty of the University of Timisoara, Faculty of Law of the University of Pecs and the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies of the University of Belgrade and discussed with them the possibilities of academic cooperation in the form of joint projects, exchanges of teaching staff etc.

During the lecture, we could learn many interesting things regarding the importance of economic crime, as well as mechanisms for recognizing and preventing it from some of the renowned experts in this field and our distinguished guests at the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, namely: Prof. Dr. Viorel Pasca, Prof. Dr. Flaviu Ciopek, Ass. Prof. Dr. Laura Stanila and Ass.Prof. Dr. Magdalena Roibua from the Law Faculty of the Western University of Timisoara, Prof. Dr. Istvan Gal from the Law Faculty of the University of Pecs, and Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Bošković from the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies of the University of Belgrade. The person responsible for the organization of the whole event and lecture moderator was Prof. Dr. Zoran Pavlović, Head of the Department for Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad

During the lecture, our guest speakers emphasized the fact that economic crime is clearly differentiated from other criminal deeds and that it is, unquestionably, one of the most pressing issues today which is increasingly being investigated, discussed and written about. In this context, the speakers also presented a new journal, known as the "Journal of Eastern-European Criminal Law", whose editorial board has clearly recognized the importance of economic crime and showed interest and devotion to this subject, which is particularly expressed in the latest issue of the journal.
