Once Again High School Graduates Were Dancing To The Same Rhythm
On 19 May 2017, graduates from all over Serbia were again dancing the famous prom dance - quadrille, with the number of peers across Europe.
Exactly at noon, at the Novi Sad town square “Trg Slobode“ (meaning in eng. Freedom Square), around 1,000 young people dressed in red and blue shirts gathered and, after the "mandatory part of the program", started dancing the traditional Serbian dance “kolo”.
The international event PROM DANCE is organized for the 11th year in a row and the person in charge of the whole thing is project coordinator, Ms. Drinka Kecman. The event has been supported by the Department for Culture of the City of Novi Sad, The Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary and The Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management – FIMEK, in Novi Sad.
During the official opening of the event, high school graduates were addressed by friends and sponsors of the event. Prof. Dragan Soleša Ph.D., Vice-Chancellor of the University Business Academy, welcomed the graduates and once again reminded them of one of the most important decisions they are facing now. "You are a generation of young capable people who need to learn, go forward and thus enable a better life not just for themselves, but also the society as a whole", said prof. Dragan Soleša to the graduates and wished them good luck and success in their future education and career development.
The event PROM DANCE is a charitable action intended to raise awareness about diabetes among young people and is organized in collaboration with the “Association for Diabetes of Novi Sad". On behalf of the oldest association for fighting diabetes, high school graduates were addressed by Mr. Radivoj Mračević, President of the Association. In honor of the 55th anniversary of the Association, Mr. Mračević awarded the three most charming dancing couples.
Graduates were also welcomed by a surprise guest, actor Nikola Škorić, who plays the character of Dragan Torbica in one of the most popular TV series in Serbia called "Državni posao" (eng. “Work in the public sector”)
Exactly at noon, high school graduates started dancing the quadrille and tried to set the Guinness World record. After that, they enjoyed an unforgettable party with excellent music of the “AS” radio (eng. Ace radio) and refreshments provided by Coca-Cola.
