A Meeting with a Representative of The University of Maribor held at the University Business Academy in Novi Sad

On September 27, 2017 the University Business Academy in Novi Sad hosted a meeting with a very special occasion, namely, the establishment of cooperation between the University Business Academy in Novi Sad and the University of Maribor, Slovenia.

The meeting was held in the ceremonial hall of the University and was attended by the President of the University Council, Prof. Marijana Carić, Ph.D., Prof. Dragan Ilić, Ph.D. as Coordinator for International Cooperation of the University Business Academy and Prof. Jereb Borut, Ph.D., as Vice-Dean for Quality and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Logistics, University of Maribor.

Prof. Marijana Carić welcomed the guest and then presented the activities that are currently being carried out at the University Business Academy, particularly those concerning cooperation with other higher education institutions in the country and abroad, partnership projects and scientific/research work.

Prof. Jereb Borut received his doctorate in computer science from the University of Ljubljana. He studied at the State University of Oregon and was later even invited as a guest lecturer and taught at the State University of Oregon. After returning to Slovenia, he spent almost two decades working as a consultant and manager in companies and the public sector in the field of business optimization. Currently, he works as a university professor at the Faculty of Logistics in Celje, his specialization areas being risk management, IT security, standardization and legislation. The professor spoke about the benefits of studying at the Faculty of Logistics, the “3+2” model of studies and the possibilities of student exchange programs for students enrolled in doctoral studies. Doctoral students are also given the opportunity to apply for a scholarship through the Erasmus plus program and thus complete doctoral studies at the Faculty of Logistics, University of Maribor. He emphasized that a large percentage of their students, while still in the third year of undergraduate studies, manage to find employment, as the labor market is increasingly in the need for these profiles, both in Slovenia and other European Union countries.

Prof. Dragan Ilić emphasized that the announced cooperation between the University Business Academy in Novi Sad and the University of Maribor, in addition to the exchange of Ph.D. students, will enable joint efforts on strengthening academic references and generating new ideas for EU projects.
