It is with profound sorrow that we inform the academic community and the wider public of the passing of Prof. Emerita Marijana Carić, PhD, President and one of the co-founders of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad.

With the passing of Prof. Emerita Carić, the University Business Academy has lost one of the figures who shaped its founding, development, and the building of its academic reputation. As one of the University's co-founders, Prof. Carić took part, from its very beginnings, in creating an institution that over the years grew into a recognized academic community, remaining devoted to it throughout her entire professional career.

Prof. Carić had an exceptionally rich and varied career. She spent a significant part of her academic and scientific career at the Faculty of Technology of the University of Novi Sad, where, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to science, education, and the development of the Faculty, she was elected to the title of professor emeritus. Her scientific research was devoted primarily to the fields of biotechnology and food technology, and she received numerous national and international awards for her contribution to the advancement of science and the application of research results.

In addition to her outstanding academic and scientific career, she also achieved notable results in sport. As an accomplished tennis player, she won Serbia's senior national championship three years in a row, displaying from a young age the perseverance, discipline, and energy that would go on to mark her later professional life.

With her knowledge, experience, energy, and perseverance, Prof. Carić made an immeasurable contribution to the development of the University Business Academy. As President of the University, and previously President of the University Council, she was dedicated to its development and to improving the quality of higher education and scientific research.

Her legacy includes decades of dedicated work and remarkable scientific and professional achievements — but above all, a university she helped create and to whose development she devoted much of her professional life.

For all of us who had the privilege of working with Prof. Emerita Carić and sharing part of her professional journey, her passing is a great loss. We will remember her for her knowledge, strength, directness, determination, and the energy she brought to everything she undertook.

Prof. Emerita Marijana Carić will forever remain part of the history of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad. With deep gratitude and respect, we will cherish her memory and legacy, as well as everything she has left for generations to come.
