In the Study Hall of the Faculty of Law for Judiciary and Commerce in Novi Sad, on March 7, 2017 we had the pleasure to host Mr. Mihalj Njilaš, the Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities, as our guest speaker who delivered a lecture on a very interesting topic: “Judicial protection of industrial property''.

Prof. Zoran Pavlović Ph.D., Department Head of the Criminal Law studies at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, had the pleasure of opening this special lecture and noted that the presence of Mr. Mihalj Njilaš presents a great honor for the Faculty. Mr. Mihalj Njilaš expressed his great satisfaction for being a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary for the second time, this time having the opportunity to present on the topic of judicial protection. The introductory part of the lecture focused on defining the concept and forms of industrial property, as well as subjective law which protects certain forms of artistic and intellectual work, primarily related to industrial operations. Mr. Njilaš said that the patent law protects the inventor, whereas trademark law protects a business' commercial identity or brand of goods or services. Mr. Njilaš also emphasized the importance of strict administrative action by a competent national authority which is supposed to provide protection in a particular procedure.

At the end of the lecture, students of the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad had the opportunity to pose questions to Mr. Mihalj Njilaš, the Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities. We have to say that our students showed exceptional knowledge and understanding of the subject area which was the topic of this special lecture.
