
A New Textbook By A Group Of Authors From The Faculty Of Dental Medicine In Pančevo
The Faculty of Dental Medicine in Pančevo is proud to present its new textbook titled: “The Fundamentals of Orthodontics”.
“The Fundamentals of Orthodontics”, as the first textbook issued by the Faculty in 2017, is primarily intended for students following the program of integrated studies of dentistry, and therefore its scope and content have been tailored in line with the curriculum and number of classes in orthodontics at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Pančevo.
Authors who participated in the writing of this textbook were: Dr. Jasmina Milić, Professor of Dental Medicine in Pančevo, Dr Tatjana Perović, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine - Department of Dentistry in Niš, dr Julija Radojičić, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine - Department of Dentistry in Niš, Dr. Zdenka Stojanović, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry in Travnik, Ema Aleksić, Doctor of dental medicine and Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Pančevo, Dr. Predrag Vučinić, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine – Department of Dentistry in Novi Sad and Dr. Slobodan Čupić, Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Pančevo. The authors wished to provide a book which is concise and easy to read and understand, containing the latest findings on the causes and consequences of improper development of the orofacial region as a whole, especially occlusions, in all stages of growth and development of a young organism. In addition, they tried to present to the reader the main biological principles of tooth movement and orthodontic treatment planning, in accordance with the objectives and limitations of treatment. The authors shared the fundamental knowledge about the different types of orthodontic appliances, indications and mode of operation as well as methods and apparatus for the retention of achieved results after orthodontic treatment.
The authors present this book to the present, future, as well as former students of dentistry. It was their wish to write a book which can help students acquire the basic knowledge and principles of orthodontics, which is considered as essential for every dentist who wishes to be prepared for a multidisciplinary approach to treatment planning, polyvalent clinical work of contemporary dentists and above all- prevention - interceptive action in compliance with the idea that prevention is better than a cure.
