On 14 June 2017, at the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, we had the honor of hosting the certificate awarding ceremony for participants of the second cycle of lectures held within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module - Accession of Serbia to the European Union.

The second cycle of lectures, which was held by the project leader Prof. Vladimir Medović Ph.D., primarily focused on the better understanding of the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union and the impact of this process on various areas of social and economic life. As a result of the lectures, participants were trained to competently discuss the process that is directly or indirectly connected with the Serbia's accession to the European Union.

Prof. Mirko Kulić Ph.D., Rector of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, congratulated all the participants on the successfully completed course and presented them with certificates. "I expect that these certificates will help you to find yourselves among the first ones who will be able to contribute both theoretically and practically to the successful implementation of all the good things from the European Union in our country" - said the Rector of the University.

Prof. Vladimir Medović welcomed all the attendees and emphasized the significance of this whole project with the following words: "Jean Monnet's Module on the Accession to the European Union is dedicated to promoting high standards in teaching and research in the European Union. Bearing in mind that this is the only project in the Republic of Serbia which was approved in this call, this fact once again confirms the reputation and expertise of staff working at the University Business Academy, and especially the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management for research in the field of European integrations."

Jean Monnet is an Erasmus + campaign which started in 2014, designed to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies around the world. The European module is a project within the Jean Monnet subprogram and is an integral part of the Lifelong Learning Program. The Jean Monnet module is a short curriculum (or course) in the field of European Union studies at a higher education institution for a period of 3 years. The main goal of the Jean Monnet subprogram is to support teaching and research in the field of European integration studies at the level of higher education institutions within and outside the European Union. University Business Academy and the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management applied to the announced call for applications of the Erasmus + Program / Jean Monnet Activities Selection 2015 - Call for Proposals ref. EAC / A04 / 2014 with the project "The Accession of Serbia to the European Union", which was approved by the European Commission with excellent reviews. The project has been co-financed by the European Commission. The approved lecturers on the module are Prof. Vladimir Medović Ph.D. (Project Manager) and Prof. Jelena Vapa-Tankosić Ph.D.

The main purpose of the project is to promote the idea of European integrations and regional cooperation, as well as to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on institutional relations between Serbia and the European Union, legal and economic instruments of the stabilization and association process and the procedure and conditions for joining the EU. In this way, the project will contribute to increasing the quality of the existing academic courses on European integration. The project started with the first lecture on 8 December, 2015. The target group of the project includes undergraduate, master and doctoral students who will receive the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge as well as skills needed for their further professional development. Special attention will be given to the social groups whose activities are important for disseminating information about the European Union (journalists, members of professional associations, members of non-governmental organizations etc.).
