
Rector of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, Prof. Mirko Kulić Ph.D., Attends the Council of Europe and EU Conference
Rector of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, Prof. Mirko Kulić, Ph.D., together with the representative of the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, Ass. Prof. Sanja Škorić, Ph.D., attended the conference within the framework of the project "Strengthening Integrity and Fighting Corruption in Higher Education", held on 5 July 2017.
The conference gathered representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Council of Europe, as well as numerous representatives and experts in the field of science and education.
The overall objective of the project is to raise the quality of education by fostering democratic culture in the formal education system, applying anti-discrimination approaches based on the standards and practices of the Council of Europe.
The Council of Europe experts, Prof. Ian Smith, Ph.D. - University of the West of Scotland and Prof. Thomas Hamilton, Ph.D. - University of Stirling, recommended to the Ministry of Education to stop with the practice of traditional entrance exams at universities as soon as possible and replace them with a standardized state-wide graduation exam.
The conference audience was also addressed by Prof. Vesna Mandić, Ph.D. - Assistant Minister for Development and Higher Education, followed by the European Union Delegation to Serbia Head of Section for the themes of public administration, education, employment and local development - Steffen Hudolin and Head of the Council of Europe Mission to Belgrade - Tim Cartwright and Ms. Vesna Atanasova – from the Education Sector of the Council of Europe.
The projects are jointly financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe through the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe entitled: "Horizontal Facility" for the Western Balkans and Turkey. The projects are implemented by the Education Department of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade.
