Project: Jean Monnet Network “European Network on Learning, Assessing and Researching Governance in Enlargement” (ENLARGE)
ENLARGE Project Activities: Meetings, Conference, and Summer School
As part of the European Network ENLARGE project, several important activities in the first year have been successfully held, bringing together members of the project team, researchers, and students to exchange ideas and discuss the future of European Union enlargement.
A project meeting was held in Leipzig, Germany, 18-20 February 2026, providing an opportunity for team members to discuss ongoing activities, review progress, and strengthen cooperation within the ENLARGE network. In addition, the ENLARGE conference in Kraków, Poland, at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, 1-3 June 2026, brought together scholars and project participants to explore key questions related to EU enlargement, European integration, democratic conditionality, and the political and socio-economic challenges facing the European Union. The conference provided a valuable platform for academic exchange and interdisciplinary discussion, available at https://site.unibo.it/enlarge/en/multimedia/conferences-and-workshops.
The project also has organised a summer school in Nantes, France, June 22-26, 2026 by distinguished lectures, members of the ENLARGE team and participating students. The summer school offered an opportunity to deepen knowledge of European enlargement, engage in discussions with experts, and exchange perspectives across generations and academic backgrounds, available at https://site.unibo.it/enlarge/en/multimedia/summer-schools.
These activities reflect ENLARGE’s commitment to fostering international academic cooperation, encouraging student participation, and promoting evidence-based debate on the past, present, and future of EU enlargement. By bringing together established researchers, emerging scholars, and students, the network continues to contribute to a better understanding of European integration and the role of enlargement in strengthening democracy, peace, and prosperity across Europe.
